Royal Insider Names First Family Member Said to Cut Off Prince Andrew

Prince Andrew’s fall from grace reportedly pushed several members of the royal family to distance themselves from him. According to royal author Christopher Andersen, however, one senior royal made the decision before anyone else: Kate Middleton, who allegedly refused to associate with the disgraced duke at family events.

Prince Andrew has remained largely isolated from royal life following his connection to disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein and accusations made by Virginia Giuffre, one of Epstein’s victims.

Although Andrew has consistently denied the allegations against him, he paid millions to settle Giuffre’s civil lawsuit. Giuffre later died by suicide in 2025.

Prince Andrew’s Royal Standing Continued to Collapse

Andrew’s reputation suffered further after recently published emails reportedly showed that he continued corresponding with Epstein even after publicly claiming he had cut ties with him.

Since stepping down as a working royal, Andrew has largely stayed out of public life. In 2026, he was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office for allegedly sharing confidential trade information with Epstein. The arrest reportedly took place on his 66th birthday.

He was later released and retreated to a quieter life at Marsh Farm on the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk after leaving Windsor.

His brother, King Charles III, also stripped him of his royal titles in October 2025, further cementing his fall within the monarchy.

Kate Middleton Was Allegedly the First to Distance Herself

According to royal author Christopher Andersen, however, another royal family member had already chosen to separate herself from Andrew long before many others publicly did.

Andersen claimed that Kate Middleton, Princess of Wales, was the first senior royal to cut ties with Andrew socially.

Royal author Christopher Andersen discussed the situation during an exclusive interview with Page Six while promoting his book "Kate! The Courage, Grace, and Power of the Woman Who Will Be Queen."

“She is the first royal to cut him off, to turn her back on him,” Andersen said. Kate reportedly refused to speak to Andrew during family functions and holiday gatherings.

Prince Andrew Was Also Reportedly Excluded From Kate’s Christmas Event

Andersen also claimed that Kate did not invite Andrew to attend her Christmas concert at Westminster Abbey. Andrew allegedly asked whether he could quietly attend the event by entering through a side door to avoid attention.

Kate reportedly refused the request.

The author said the decision was made because organizers did not want Andrew appearing on camera during the televised event. The alleged exclusion highlighted just how far Andrew had fallen within royal circles.

Kate Middleton Is Said to Be Focused on Protecting the Monarchy

According to Andersen, Kate’s reported actions stem from her desire to protect the future of the monarchy. “Kate is looking forward,” the author explained.

He added that the Princess of Wales does not want the institution damaged further by Andrew’s scandals. “She’s the wife of a future monarch,” Andersen said. He also noted that she is the “mother of a future monarch,” Prince George, who is next in line to the throne after Prince William.

Prince Andrew’s controversies have reportedly left him increasingly isolated from the royal family. While King Charles III eventually stripped him of his titles, Christopher Andersen claims Kate Middleton was the first royal to distance herself from him completely.

As scrutiny surrounding Andrew continues, Andersen believes the Princess of Wales remains focused on protecting the monarchy’s future and reputation.
