Christian Pulisic Breaks Silence on Alexa Melton Split After Dating App Claims Sparked Buzz Ahead of World Cup

Months after Alexa Melton's pointed social media comments sparked rumors about their breakup, the U.S. soccer star is finally addressing the relationship — while carefully steering clear of the controversy that followed.

Christian Pulisic reflected on his relationship with professional golfer Alexa Meltonin a recent interview with Time, offering remarks about their time together despite the public speculation that erupted after their split earlier this year.

While the A.C. Milan forward declined to discuss what led to the breakup, his comments arrived after Melton briefly accused him of being on the invite-only dating app Raya before their relationship had officially ended.

Pulisic Keeps Focus on the Positive

In the interview, which was conducted in February and published May 7, Pulisic spoke fondly about Melton while refusing to elaborate on the details surrounding their breakup. "I only look at her in the most positive way," the 27-year-old said.

"She was a lot of fun, and she supported me in every way," he added. The soccer star also credited Melton with encouraging him to enjoy life outside of the pressures that come with professional sports, saying:

"She wanted to push me to enjoy my life a little bit more and do things with her and do things just in general. And I was grateful for that."

The relationship had previously been featured in Pulisic's 2024 Paramount+ docuseries, which gave fans a closer look at his life away from the field. By the time of the Time interview, however, the couple had already gone their separate ways.

Alexa Melton's Comments Fueled Online Speculation

Rumors surrounding the breakup intensified in April after Melton appeared to reference the split in a social media comment section. Responding to one netizen who called the breakup "a generational fumble," Melton allegedly wrote, "Mans was on Raya before it even ended."

In another comment, she reportedly added, "Guess not fearing God enough. How many likes to post his Raya profile?" The comments quickly circulated online and prompted speculation about whether Pulisic had been unfaithful during the relationship.

But only days later, Melton appeared to reverse course. In a now-expired Instagram Stories post shared April 9, she clarified that the situation had been misunderstood and insisted there was no cheating involved. The golfer wrote:

"I've made some comments on a private matter and it's been taken out of context. I received false info. He is not a cheater. Any narrative beyond that is not mine."

She went on to say that she would no longer address the situation publicly "out of respect for Christian's and my privacy."

A Personal Life That Continues to Draw Attention

Still, public interest in the soccer star's personal life has continued to follow him. In December 2025, Pulisic publicly denied rumors linking him to actress Sydney Sweeney, urging fans to "stop with the made up stories about my personal life" in an Instagram Stories post.
