North West Shows Off Blue Hair and Hand Piercings Months After Kim Kardashian Asked for 'Grace'

The preteen returned to Instagram with another bold style moment, putting her blue hair and hand piercings on display after Kim Kardashian previously addressed criticism over her daughter's fashion choices.

The daughter of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West gave followers another look at the fashion-forward image she has been building, just months after her mother spoke publicly about raising a creative preteen under intense scrutiny.

North West Shows Off Her Blue Hair and Piercings

On May 23, 2026, West shared several photos on her Instagram Stories that highlighted her bright blue hair, oversized accessories, and visible piercings on her hands and fingers.

In the selfies, she wore an all-gray outfit, a bulky chain necklace with a skull and crossbones design, large sunglasses, and furry boots. The look also included a gray handbag and layered accessories, giving the photos the same bold edge fans have come to expect from her.

West also appeared to show at least five piercings on her hand and fingers, along with another on her wrist. However, it was not clear whether all of them were real.

According to Kardashian, her daughter had seen negative comments about her blue hair and other style choices but was not easily shaken by them.

The posts came after months of public conversation about the 12-year-old's style choices. In September 2025, she was seen with what appeared to be a dermal piercing on her hand, which led some netizens to criticize Kardashian for allowing her daughter to experiment with body modifications at such a young age.

Dermal piercings, also known as microdermal or single-point piercings, sit flat against the skin and do not have a separate entry and exit point.

Kim Kardashian Previously Addressed Criticism

Kardashian later spoke about the pressure of parenting her daughter in the public eye during an October 2025 episode of "Call Her Daddy." The SKIMS co-founder said West was creative, confident, and aware of the commentary surrounding her appearance.

According to Kardashian, the 12-year-old had seen negative comments about her blue hair and other style choices but was not easily shaken by them.

"She's like really mature," Kardashian said, explaining that West would often brush off criticism from people whose opinions she did not value. The mom of 4 added:

"She'll be like, 'Mom, I saw this and, like, I don't really care that they don't, like, if someone says they don't like my blue hair or, like my, you know, like this or that.' And she's really confident and is like, 'I probably wouldn't be hanging out with those people.'"

Still, Kardashian admitted that parenting a preteen while the world watched came with difficult moments, adding that she sometimes looked back on certain outfits and realized they had not been the right choice.

"And then I'm like, 'Okay, we're never wearing that again. Unfortunately, we made that mistake in front of the whole world,'" she recalled thinking after one public reaction.

Kardashian also explained that her daughter was often a tomboy but had wanted to try something her friends were wearing. Once the outfit drew attention, the reality star said she had to rethink what felt appropriate. "As a mom, you're kind of, like, learning at the same time," she said.

Kardashian Said North's Creativity Makes Her Happy

While Kardashian acknowledged that some choices led to second thoughts, she made it clear that she did not want to erase West's self-expression. In the same interview, she said her daughter was a "good girl" and a "sweet girl" who listened, reflected, and learned from her experiences.

Kardashian added that some things, though, including her daughter's blue hair, were not battles she wanted to fight. She shared:

"I'm like, 'Babe, if you want blue hair, like, it is what it is. It makes her so happy."

Kim Kardashian added that she was doing her best while raising four children and urged people to have "a little bit of grace." As for West, the latest Instagram posts seemed to show that her bold style era is still going strong.
