Why Kate Middleton and Prince William Nearly Didn’t Get Their Happily Ever After — Inside Their Royal Romance
May 12, 2026

Venice has once again become a showcase for Hollywood glamour, major film premieres, and memorable moments beyond the red carpet. From Pamela Anderson’s pared-back beauty look to George and Amal Clooney’s return and Nicola Peltz Beckham's latest career honor, these photographs capture more than just a night of high fashion.
The 83rd Venice International Film Festival is running from September 2 through September 12, 2026, bringing stars to the Italian city for premieres, awards, and celebrations.
The festival lineup includes films from major filmmakers such as Martin McDonagh, Florian Zeller, Danny Boyle, Werner Herzog, Lance Oppenheim, Nanni Moretti, Hirokazu Kore-eda and Lee Chang-dong, according to Variety's report on the 2026 lineup.

The glamour has been just as visible away from the movie screens, with Pamela, Amal, George, Nicola, Brooklyn Beckham, Penélope Cruz, Javier Bardem, Georgina Rodríguez, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Robert Pattinson, Suki Waterhouse, Kendall Jenner, Orlando Bloom and Laura Dern among the recognizable faces photographed during the festival period.

Georgina Rodríguez brought her own version of Venice glamour to the festival, but her latest looks suggested a noticeably different direction from the style fans may have expected. According to Red Carpet Fashion Awards, Georgina appeared in Venice following her wedding to Cristiano Ronaldo and was there as the face of Italian luxury jeweler Pasquale Bruni.
At the Mr. Nelson, Did You Kill People? premiere, she wore a dark navy tailored skirt suit with a fitted blazer, pronounced lapels and a deep neckline. A dramatic layered silver-and-white statement necklace, coordinating rings and delicate earrings completed the polished look.
Georgina stood with her hands clasped at her waist as photographers surrounded her. Her long dark hair was styled straight and swept over one shoulder, while the oversized necklace immediately drew attention to the neckline.

A closer photograph puts the jewelry and tailoring even more firmly in focus. Several large white statement rings are visible as Georgina holds her hands together, while her makeup emphasizes her eyes and glossy lips.

Her other Venice appearances continued the shift, including a brown Intimissimi silk shirt layered over a balconette bra with high-waisted white Giambattista Valli jeans. She also stepped out in a light beige Gucci dress, long sleeves, a cinched waist, and a pleated midi skirt.
The fashion coverage described the beige Gucci look as a more demure side of Georgina, while the navy Gucci suit was similarly considered restrained despite its plunging neckline.
And while Georgina was quietly changing up her style, another familiar face was making a statement by going in almost the opposite direction.

Pamela made one of the festival's softer fashion statements in a pale blue, knee-length dress covered with scattered yellow-and-gray floral details. The dress featured a sheer V-neckline, flowing semi-transparent sleeves, and oversized ribbons tied into bows at the shoulders, while Pamela wore her blonde hair in voluminous waves and finished the look with pointed white heels.
In the photograph, Pamela smiles broadly while turning slightly toward the side, with one leg crossed in front of the other and her hands loosely clasped near her waist. The pale pink-and-white backdrop keeps the focus on the delicate floral dress and its sheer layers.

A closer portrait puts even more attention on the texture of the outfit, from the floral embellishments to the oversized shoulder bows. Pamela looks directly toward the camera with a more composed expression, her hands still clasped in front of her.
The appearance also brings renewed attention to Pamela's decision to move away from the heavily made-up image that defined much of her earlier career. In a 2023 interview with ELLE, she explained that after her makeup artist Alexis Vogel died from breast cancer, she abandoned her signature look.
"She was the best. And since then, I just felt, without Alexis, it’s just better for me not to wear makeup," Pamela said. She described the change as "freeing, and fun, and a little rebellious too," explaining that she had noticed people embracing increasingly elaborate makeup looks and felt it was natural for her to go in the opposite direction.

That choice has not gone unnoticed by viewers. One commenter praised Pamela, writing, "Very pretty and love the natural look!" Another commenter was less enthusiastic, saying, "Sorry, looks like nightgown." A third commenter argued, "The no makeup thing must be done.... At least some eyebrows."
Another person added, "You should have on some makeup if you’re doing a photo shoot." The reactions were similarly mixed elsewhere. One commenter declared, "She's never been more beautiful than she is now!" Another simply wrote, "Naturally gorgeous." A third commenter disagreed, saying, "She needs a little something on her face."

On another post, one admirer said, "My favourite dress so far colour style and length looks perfect on her [sic]👌." Another commenter offered a very different assessment, writing, "Looks like a hospital dress she is beautiful though [sic]."
But there was another family development surrounding Pamela that made this period particularly notable.

P
Pamela's older son, Brandon Thomas Lee, is engaged to Katarina Demetriades. According to PEOPLE, the 30-year-old proposed during a trip to Indonesia on August 29. Brandon and Katarina grew up in Los Angeles and had been friends for years before beginning their relationship in 2025. They now live in New York and plan to marry in late 2027.
Brandon is an Emmy-nominated producer and the CEO and head of production at And Her Son's Productions. He produced the Netflix documentary Pamela, A Love Story about his mother and executive produced The Last Showgirl, which starred Pamela.
The engagement comes during a particularly emotional period for Pamela as her sons enter new chapters of their lives. Her younger son, Dylan Jagger Lee, married interior designer Paula Bruss earlier this year in Saint-Tropez.
Pamela spoke to PEOPLE in July about watching Dylan marry, admitting that the emotion caught her by surprise. "It's so emotional. It kind of catches you off guard even because we've all been living such independent lives."

"My boys are very independent, and they've all lived on their own for many years and [he and Paula have] been together for nine years, but it really did feel like, oh, 'Dylan is not mine anymore. He and Paula belong together.'"
Brandon attended Dylan's wedding celebration with Katarina, marking their first prominent public appearance together as a couple. Pamela also spoke warmly about Dylan in a Vogue feature on his wedding, calling him a grounding presence in the family and describing him and Paula as an artistic couple.
While Pamela's appearance came with a quieter beauty statement, Amal Clooney arrived in Venice alongside George for an occasion that carried considerably more history.

George received the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement Award at the festival, nearly three decades after his first appearance there with Out of Sight.
His connection to Venice is also deeply personal: He married Amal there in 2014. Vanity Fair reported that George described Venice as one of his favorite places and recalled having "a love story with Venice for about 30 years." When asked about his greatest moment there, he had an immediate answer: "I would say that my greatest moment here was obviously my wedding."
For the Ink screening, George wore a traditional black tuxedo with a white pleated shirt, black bow tie, and polished dress shoes. Amal stood beside him in a fitted, floor-length black gown with thin straps and a ruched texture, carrying a sleek black clutch and wearing a sparkling bracelet.

Clooney
The couple posed arm-in-arm against the busy festival backdrop, with photographers and media personnel surrounding them. Amal wore her long dark brown hair in loose waves over one shoulder, giving the otherwise black ensemble a polished finish.
The response to Amal's appearance was overwhelmingly admiring. One commenter said, "Without makeup she is stunning." Another praised her as "The most beautiful and most elegant woman in the world.🌹"
Elsewhere, one viewer focused on more than the dress, saying, "It's not just the dress, look at her amazing figure. If you put a bin bag on her, she would still look stunning. 👍" Another commenter said, "She's stunningly attractive, and her wardrobe is enviable."

For George, however, the Venice trip was about more than the cameras. In Vanity Fair's September 2026 interview, he reflected on how becoming a father to his and Amal's twins, Alexander and Ella, had changed his professional priorities.
George explained that directing now presents a challenge because it can require spending a year away from home. "The only reason I'm not directing, which I love doing, is because I have two nine-year-old kids," he said.
He explained that acting allows him to travel back and forth after a few months, whereas directing can keep him away for an entire year. For George, that has meant accepting that his priorities have changed. "You have to make peace with change," he said.
George and Amal were not the only couple drawing attention.

Javier Bardem and Penélope Cruz appeared together on the red carpet in striking formalwear. Javier wore a classic black tuxedo with satin lapels, a white dress shirt, and a black bow tie. Penélope stood beside him in a fitted red floor-length gown with thin straps and dramatic feathered trim around the waist.
Her shoulder-length brown hair was styled in a sleek, softly layered look with bangs, while jewelry and a large statement ring completed the outfit. Javier placed an arm around her as they posed for photographers.
The reaction from viewers was enthusiastic. One commenter simply declared, "The best!!!" Another praised the couple and Penélope's appearance, saying, "Beautiful couple! The dress is also very beautiful, perfect body! 👏" A third commenter called them the "hottest couple out there besides George Clooney and his wife!"

Nicola Peltz Beckham arrived in Venice with husband Brooklyn Beckham as her professional profile received another boost.
The couple was photographed together at the Kinéo Award red carpet, with Nicola wearing a dramatic deep blue-purple gown featuring a sculpted, draped bodice and an exposed midriff. The voluminous skirt extended into a sweeping train, while a matching fabric detail draped over her shoulder and down her back.
She paired the gown with black heels, while Brooklyn stood beside her in a light pinstriped double-breasted suit, white shirt, dark striped tie, and tinted glasses. Both smiled for photographers in the wider photograph, presenting a polished red-carpet image as they stood side by side.

A closer image shows the couple smiling toward the cameras, with Nicola's floral lace detailing particularly prominent and her shoulder-length blonde hair falling naturally around her face.
The look prompted plenty of debate online. One commenter said, "Too much skin…not nice." Another remarked, "She is very thin." A third joked, "I hope she got a discount on that dress. Half of the dress is missing."
The criticism continued in another discussion. One commenter said, "The dress is heavier than she is. 😂😂😂" Another joked, "Oops! She forgot the other half of her dress!!" A third viewer wrote, "Dress is a lil too revealing tbh...she looks a tad uncomfortable...not loved up as suggested."
But beneath the fashion discussion was a significant professional moment for Nicola.

According to the Kinéo Awards' Instagram page, Nicola was selected to receive the Rising Star Award at the 25th Kinéo Awards. The Hollywood Reporter also reported that legendary actress Faye Dunaway was chosen for a Lifetime Achievement Award.
The Kinéo Awards ceremony took place during the Venice Film Festival, but it is important to note that Kinéo is a separate event and is not officially affiliated with the Venice Film Festival. The ceremony was founded in 2002 by Rosetta Sannelli and has coincided with the Venice festival since then.
Nicola's honor recognized her work as an actress, producer, and filmmaker. Her career includes The Last Airbender, Transformers: Age of Extinction, Bates Motel, Holidate, Welcome to Chippendales, and The Beauty, and she also wrote and starred in Lola.
The award also reunited Nicola with Faye, with the two having worked together on the upcoming independent film Prima. Nicola stars in the film as a ballerina alongside Faye. During her acceptance speech, Nicola thanked Faye before turning her attention to the family members she credited with supporting her career.

"My family are my everything. My mum, dad, (brothers) Diesel and Brad, and Brooklyn, thank you. You always believe in me." She continued, "To have your support is the reason I can reach to the stars in the first place."
A report from BANG Showbiz said Nicola admitted that she was more comfortable performing as a character than standing in front of an audience before accepting the honor.
Brooklyn's presence beside Nicola added another layer to the appearance. In a 2025 interview with British Vogue, he described Nicola as his best friend and said that being married to her felt like a "never-ending playdate."
But the festival wasn't the only place where family took center stage during this stretch of celebrity appearances. Just a few days later, another familiar Hollywood family stepped onto a red carpet together.

Ethan Hawke offered another memorable family appearance at the Deauville American Film Festival in France. He attended the September 4 event with his wife, Ryan Hawke, and their 15-year-old daughter, Indiana Hawke, marking a rare red-carpet appearance for the trio.
E! News reported that Ethan was at the festival as his upcoming film The Weight was listed among the movies scheduled to premiere there. He wore a black tuxedo with a black shirt and bow tie, while Ryan coordinated with him in a long black dress featuring sheer panels and textured detailing.

Indiana provided the brightest contrast in a long white dress with openwork and lace-like detailing. She carried a gold shoulder bag and had a pink textured garment draped over one arm.

Viewers immediately noticed the resemblance between father and daughter. One commenter said, "Daughter is his double." Another said, "She looks like her dad. Pretty young lady."
The comments continued on another post, with one person saying, "Daughter has his smirk." Another commenter summed up the resemblance, writing, "Mini me."
Ethan's family appearance also came after another major family milestone. Earlier this year, he reunited with his former wife Uma Thurman to attend the wedding of their daughter, Maya Hawke, to Christian Lee Hutson.
Ethan later described the experience warmly, telling E! News that it meant a lot because Maya was happy and he loved her husband. He also joked about a text from his youngest daughter, who told him he was the most influential man in her life.

Patrick Schwarzenegger brought a dramatically different burst of color to the festival in a red double-breasted blazer with broad lapels and matching buttons.
He paired the jacket with a white shirt featuring blue vertical stripes and a textured white tie, while wide-legged black trousers and polished black shoes grounded the outfit. His dark hair was slicked back neatly as he posed with one hand adjusting the front of his jacket.

Robert Pattinson and Suki Waterhouse also appeared together in Venice, combining relaxed tailoring with a more revealing lace look. Robert wore a relaxed white pinstriped double-breasted suit with a white shirt and burgundy striped tie.
Suki wore a sheer beige lace two-piece featuring intricate embroidery, a long-sleeved cropped top and short bottoms, finished with burgundy heels and narrow dark sunglasses. The pair smiled together for photographers, with Robert's dark hair styled back and Suki's blonde hair falling around her shoulders with soft bangs.

Kendall Jenner opted for a more traditional festival glamour moment in a fitted, floor-length champagne-gold gown covered with intricate metallic embroidery and ornate floral patterns.
The sleeveless gown featured a rounded neckline with jeweled trim and fell straight to the floor, while delicate strappy metallic sandals completed the look. Kendall wore her long dark hair sleek and straight over one shoulder.

Laura Dern brought a romantic edge to the festival in a black floor-length gown featuring a sheer lace bodice, raised floral appliqués, and delicate embellishments.
The gown's thin straps and plunging V-shaped neckline contrasted with its voluminous pleated skirt and sheer floral panels. Laura wore her long blonde hair loose with full bangs and added layered delicate necklaces.

The Venice Festival's star power has been accompanied by a substantial slate of films. According to Variety's coverage, the competition includes McDonagh's Wild Horse Nine, Zeller's Bunker, Boyle's Ink, Herzog's Bucking Fastard, Oppenheim's Primetime, Nanni Moretti's It Will Happen Tonight, Kore-eda's Look Back and Lee Chang-dong's Possible Love.
Danny Boyle's Ink opened the festival, while the lineup also includes major out-of-competition projects such as Alex Gibney's Musk, Barbara Kopple's Union Town and the Oasis reunion documentary Oasis: Don't Look Back in Anger.
The festival's official program also gives the stars photographed around Venice plenty of cinematic context. George Clooney's lifetime achievement honor, Nicola's separate Kinéo recognition, Pamela's evolving public image, and the many couples and families appearing together have made this year's edition as much a showcase of people and moments as it is of films.
