Perez Hilton’s Family Says He Remains in ‘Serious but Stable’ Condition After ‘Significant Blood Loss’

The embattled blogger remains under close medical supervision as his loved ones work to set the record straight. Behind the scenes, a family is fighting to protect three young children caught in the middle of a very public crisis.

Perez Hilton's family has shared yet another update about his condition following the veteran gossip columnist's hospitalization last week, after he appeared to self-harm during a TikTok livestream.

In a statement posted on his website on Saturday, August 8, Hilton's family shared, "Perez's condition remains serious but stable. He experienced significant blood loss and sustained additional injuries that will require surgery in the coming days."

"His treatment and recovery will be a long process. We are grateful that Perez was able to spend time with his mother and sister yesterday," the statement continued. "As our family remains focused on Perez's treatment and recovery, we also need the space and privacy to care for everyone affected by this situation."

On Tuesday, August 4, local authorities were called to the scene of Hilton's Florida home after receiving reports of a "suicide attempt," the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office (MDSO) previously confirmed to People.

Disturbing clips of the veteran blogger, showing him covered in blood and holding a large knife, soon began circulating on social media. In the days that followed, multiple reports surfaced suggesting Hilton had been struggling immensely throughout the year.

Beyond adjusting to a fresh start after relocating to his hometown of Miami, he also endured two major health scares within the span of two months — an ordeal that left him in serious financial strain despite carrying medical insurance.

Amid the swirl of reports, Hilton's family is now working to correct the record surrounding the livestream incident. "There are many false and inaccurate reports circulating in the media regarding Perez and the circumstances surrounding this situation," the family said.

"We want to confirm that Perez remains hospitalized under Florida's Baker Act," they continued, referencing the legal provision that allows authorities, judges, or medical professionals to hold an individual for a mental health evaluation for up to 72 hours.

"His communication has been extremely limited and confined to immediate family, medical providers and others directly involved in his care. He has not communicated with the media or issued any public statements," continued Hilton's loved ones.

"The only statements regarding Perez that should be considered credible and authorized are those published directly on PerezHilton.com," they added, before criticizing members of the media for continuing to camp outside Hilton's home despite an earlier request to stop.

"There is absolutely no reason for members of the media or the public to remain outside the family's home. We again respectfully ask members of the media to leave the home and surrounding area, stop following family members, and cease photographing Perez's children."

"We also ask photo agencies not to purchase, publish, or distribute any photographs of the children that may have been taken," the family wrote.

The statement also pointed to Hilton's longstanding "no kids policy," under which his site refrains from publishing photos of children unless they are pictured at a public event or their family has already shared those images publicly.

Hilton is a father to son Mario, 13, and daughters Mia, 11, and Mayte, 8, all born via surrogate. "Perez's children remain safe and are being cared for by immediate family," the family said.

"Please allow them and the rest of the family the peace and privacy they desperately need during this incredibly difficult time."
