Hailee Steinfeld is bringing intention into her everyday routine. In a recent interview with Architectural Digest, the actress discussed how she and her husband, Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen, manage life at home.

The couple, who married in May 2025, split their time between Western New York and California. Despite demanding careers, Steinfeld says creating meaningful routines is a priority.

Keeping Mealtime Focused

One of the clearest rules in their household involves how they share meals. Steinfeld avoids eating in front of the television, choosing instead to focus on conversation and connection.

"I think it’s a mixture of both. The preference is not in front of the TV. I value a meal away from technology," she said.

She explained that mealtime offers a rare chance to connect without distractions, whether they are alone or hosting friends and family. By removing screens, the couple ensures that those moments remain intentional.

No Screens at Night

Steinfeld applies a similar mindset to bedtime. She avoids having the television on while sleeping, reinforcing her effort to separate rest from entertainment.

This approach reflects a broader commitment to maintaining boundaries around technology, especially in spaces meant for relaxation.

Welcoming Their First Child

Since the interview, Steinfeld has entered a new phase of life. In an April 2, 2026 Substack post titled "Special Delivery," she announced the birth of the couple’s first child.

"Our baby girl has arrived!!" she shared. "We’re feeling incredibly grateful and blessed and savoring these early moments."

The announcement marked a significant milestone for the couple, who had already begun preparing for their daughter’s arrival.

Planning a Thoughtful Nursery

Before giving birth, Steinfeld spoke about designing the baby’s nursery. The process, she said, involved careful decision-making but was also an enjoyable part of preparing for motherhood.

“I have been going back and forth on so many details — more than I care to admit — but it really has been such a fun part about getting ready for this new season of life,” she said.

Drawing inspiration from her mother, interior designer Cheri Steinfeld, she focused on creating a calm and welcoming environment. She emphasized the importance of soft lighting and an open, comfortable feel for the space.

A Flexible Rule for Pets

While some household rules are firm, Steinfeld admits to being more lenient when it comes to her dogs, Martini and Brando. Though she prefers to keep furniture pet-free, she often makes exceptions.

"I’m a little funny about this one. Emotionally, I say no, but realistically, they’re family. So the rule gets bent," she said.

She noted that cleanliness still matters, often making sure the dogs are clean and using a blanket when they join her on the couch. The compromise reflects her willingness to balance structure with affection.

Finding Balance at Home

Steinfeld’s approach to home life combines clear boundaries with flexibility. By limiting screen time and focusing on shared experiences, she and Allen create space for connection. At the same time, small exceptions, like those involving their pets, add warmth and practicality to their routine.

As new parents, those habits may become even more important in shaping their family environment.

Hailee Steinfeld’s home routines offer a glimpse into how she balances structure, comfort, and connection. From tech-free meals to thoughtful design choices, her approach reflects a focus on intentional living. As she and Josh Allen adjust to life with their daughter, those values remain at the core of their growing family.
