Celebrity hairstylist Chris Appleton once revealed that the largest paycheck of his career came from a single hair job worth $200,000. The glam expert later explained that the massive fee involved extensive travel, long-term commitments, and multiple business expenses behind the scenes.

“It was $200,000,” Appleton admitted. “But I said 100 because I was afraid of what everyone would say. I said it, and then I was scared.”

Appleton had previously claimed that the highest amount he had earned from one client job was $100,000. He later clarified that the actual figure was double that amount.

According to Appleton, the six-figure payday covered far more than a standard salon appointment. “It was a lot of traveling, and it was a whole commitment,” he explained. “So when you break it down, it’s not as much.”

The hairstylist also detailed how taxes and business fees significantly reduced the amount he ultimately kept. “Also, 50 percent tax in America, that’s half,” he added. “And then your agent takes 20 percent, and your business manager takes five.”

He also noted that large payments are not the norm for every assignment. “There’s plenty of times I do work for free,” Appleton clarified. “There’s plenty of times I don’t get paid that amount of money.”
