Sources close to Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban say differences over career support played a role in their relationship strain, now highlighted in the wake of their separation.

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban reportedly had different expectations when it came to supporting each other’s careers. The couple, who married in 2006, raised their daughters Sunday, 17, and Faith, 14, with Kidman stepping back from work when the children were younger.

A source told People that the actress later "thrived" when she returned to acting and producing full-time, with her daughters now enjoying seeing her at work. For Urban, the situation was different.
According to the source, the country singer was accustomed to Kidman supporting his career, but did not show the same level of support when her focus shifted back to her professional life. Representatives for both Kidman and Urban have not commented on the claims.
