Jennifer Lawrence is detailing the struggles she faced after becoming a mother for the second time. The decorated actress welcomed a son with her husband, Cooke Maroney, earlier this year. The couple are already parents to their first son, Cy, who was born in 2022.

Lawrence revealed that she struggled with postpartum anxiety after giving birth to her youngest child. "I just thought every time he was sleeping he was dead," she told The New Yorker during an interview published Monday, October 27.

"I thought he cried because he didn't like his life, or me, or his family," she said. "I thought I was doing everything wrong, and that I would ruin my children." The 35-year-old took Zurzuvae, a recently developed drug, which helped ease her symptoms significantly — and pretty quickly.

She went on to recount a story about crying while asking ChatGPT a question about breastfeeding. "You're doing the most amazing thing for your baby," she recalled the AI system telling her. "You're such a loving mother."

Lawrence was promoting her new film, "Die, My Love," in which she portrays a young woman, Grace, who moves from New York to an inherited countryside house with her husband, Jackson.

Grace is a new mother and writer who tries to find her identity in an isolated environment. Like Lawrence, Grace struggles with postpartum depression and finds herself dangerously sinking into psychosis, which takes a toll on her marriage as she unravels further.

Lawrence stars alongside Robert Pattinson, who plays Jackson. The film is slated for release on November 7.

Lawrence welcomed her baby boy earlier this year. At the time of her interview with The New Yorker, the little one was six months old. Shortly after she gave birth, a source told People in April that she was settling well into life as a family of four with her husband.

"Jen's doing well. Being back in that newborn phase with a toddler as well can be overwhelming, but Jen's [got] such a great attitude. She's meant to be a mom," the source shared at the time.

"She's calm and just goes with the flow. Cooke's a great dad too. They are good at balancing it all together," the insider added. Another source shared further insight, saying the film star had been excited about her pregnancy.

"Her first child was born in Los Angeles. She recently gave birth to her second child in N.Y.C. She's doing well," the source said. "She was very excited about the pregnancy. She thought it was the perfect timing. She was very active and felt good."

"She's a fun mom and loves outings with her son," the insider added. "She's also super protective. She wants her children to have as much privacy as possible."
