News of her separation from her husband first made headlines last week, shortly after which the "Babygirl" star filed for divorce. In a recently published interview, the actress hinted — ever so subtly — at their split.

Nicole Kidman is moving forward. The Hollywood star recently appeared in a new Vogue Magazine issue set to hit stands this November. During her interview for the spread, she opened up about taking risks in her career.

"Taking a risk is what I've always done," she told journalist Wendell Steavenson, adding that she does not dwell on mistakes. "You get back up and you try again and you learn." Steavonson conducted the interview back in August.

By this time, Kidman and her estranged husband, Keith Urban, had already been separated. Reports suggest the two had split around the beginning of summer, in June, though Kidman only filed for divorce at the end of September.

Steavonson noted he had "guessed as much" when he spoke to the filmmaker but "didn't want to pry." "When I asked about how she felt now, in her 50s, I had expected to hear a nice trite response about the sagacity of age. Instead Kidman was wry, rueful, unsure of herself," he recalled.

"How many times do you have to be taught that you think you know where your life is going and then it isn't going in that direction?" Kidman reflected, in response to Steavonson's question.

The actress shared that she has built a solid support system in Nashville, where she has lived since marrying Urban. In her circle, she includes her "Big Little Lies" co-star Reese Witherspoon. "Ride-or-die friendships. Oh, yeah," she remarked.

When it comes to the highs and lows of life — the loss and the pain — Kidman said she channels it all into her artistic process. "I put it in my work," she said. "That's the beauty of what I do. There's a place for some of this to explode, implode, process, discover."
