The 41-year-old says she didn't grasp how frail she'd become until she saw a photo from her Grammys dress fitting. Now, she's channeling that pain into a new documentary series on grief.

The TV personality revealed she was so unsettled by her own appearance that she wore a wig to the Grammys this year in an attempt to hide her sharpened cheekbones.

In a new interview with The Mail on Sunday, Kelly admitted she had "no idea" how much weight she'd lost until she saw a photo taken during a dress fitting for the ceremony.

"I looked like the [expletive] Crypt Keeper," she told the outlet. "I said, 'This is scary. I didn't know I looked like this.' My spine – you could see every single bone.

Her confession follows months of online speculation about her noticeably thinner appearance, with even close friends and family members voicing their worry. Still, the star said grief had clouded her ability to see herself clearly.

"I couldn't see what other people saw because I was in so much pain," she said. "I just saw a broken person."

Worried that her appearance might overshadow tributes to Ozzy's legacy at the Grammys, Kelly took steps to conceal how much weight she'd shed. "I wore a wig to cover my face, so you couldn't see how skinny my cheekbones really were," she said.

Her styling team also scrambled to find outfits that would soften her frame. "They knew I was going through something. So, we were trying to find clothes to not make me look skinnier. I was scared," she said.

Despite the anxiety, Kelly felt compelled to attend. "I wanted to be there to support my mum and to pay tribute to my father's legacy," she continued. "But in all honesty, when I reflect on it, I don't think I should have gone. I wasn't very well."

The heartbreak of losing her father also robbed her of any appetite, as she explained, "You're filled with so much pain that the feeling of hunger can't even pop up."

Throughout her struggle, Kelly made a point of shielding her three-year-old son, Sidney, from the depth of her sorrow.

"Whenever he walked in the room, something would come over me and I'd snap into Miss Fun Mum. I didn't cry in front of him; I'd walk out of the room. I always made sure that he was not exposed to inappropriate sorrow," she said.

Ozzy shared an especially close bond with his grandson, and Kelly has described Sidney as a miniature version of her father, noting that he's picked up several of Ozzy's mannerisms and quirks of personality.

To this day, Sidney visits his grandfather's grave most afternoons, leaving behind a feather and updating grandfather on his day at nursery.

Ozzy died at his Buckinghamshire home at age 76 on July 22 of last year, just weeks after performing his farewell concert at Villa Park in his hometown of Birmingham.

"I'm going to do a three-part documentary series on grief and mental health, and what I went through, and tell my story because there's a lot that people don't know," she said.

Having lived with what she calls "anticipatory grief" for nearly a decade as her father's health declined, Kelly confessed she had wrongly assumed she was prepared for his eventual passing.

"The person I was before my dad died is dead," she said. "That person doesn't exist anymore."
