Inside Connie Britton and David Windsor’s Love Story

The "Friday Night Lights" alum found exactly what she was looking for when she met her beau. The lovebirds have been going strong for more than half a decade and have taken the next step in their relationship.

Connie Britton has graced the silver screen for years — delivering riveting performances in shows like the ABC drama series "Nashville" and "The White Lotus" — but the actress is known to keep much of her personal life relatively private.

While she has particularly kept her romance with her longtime partner, TV producer David Windsor, out of the spotlight, she has allowed fans the occasional glimpse into their relationship.

The pair met in late 2019 at a friend's 50th birthday party. "I walked into his party and I was like, 'Oh my gosh, I don't know a single soul at this party,'" Britton told Andy Cohen during a 2023 appearance on his SiriusXM radio show, "Radio Andy."

"But I was like, 'It's OK, I just wanna celebrate him. It's his 50th birthday.' And so I'm talking to my friend and he looks past me and he sees David across the room and he is like, 'There's someone here you have to meet,'" she recalled.

"And it was like, I'll never forget that moment because I turned around and I looked at who he was pointing at and I was like, 'Oh yeah, I wanna meet him,'" she shared. They ended up not meeting that night due to the seating arrangements. Plus, Britton had commitments the following morning.

"I was like I have to get home to Yo because I have to wake up early and my friend was like, 'Wait wait, wait, I wanted to introduce you to David.' I'm like. 'You know what, just have him email me,'" she continued. Windsor reached out to her the very next day.

Britton also revealed that Windsor had been previously married and has children with his former spouse. As for the actress herself, she was previously married to John Britton from 1991 to 1995. She is also mom to her son Yoby, affectionately known as Yo, whom she adopted in 2011.

Earlier this year, in March, she opened up about their relationship once again during an interview with Parade. "What I was really looking for was a partnership where there's constant growth, on both sides, and a sort of deepening of each other," she noted.

"It's not just like, 'Oh, I found true love.' It's that I found somebody who I can walk on a journey with that is going to be constantly ever-changing," she continued, referring to David. Britton had been reflecting on the thought process that led eventually to her decision to adopt her son.

She had first considered adoption in the early 2000s when she traveled to Ethiopia to work on a documentary about the country's orphan population. The film never came to fruition, but her desire for motherhood lingered.

"I knew that I hadn't achieved the kind of partnership that I was looking for to have a spouse and a child together. And so I thought, 'This is the time, I'm going to start the adoption process,'" she shared.

Three years into her relationship with Windsor, she told Cohen during her interview that her partner was "stepping into that more paternal role." And now, six years on, the pair are taking the leap — Britton and Windsor are officially engaged!

People confirmed the news on Sunday, October 26, 2025. The previous Friday, the couple had been spotted at LAX, where Britton was seen wearing a large diamond ring on her left ring finger. Dressed casually for the outing, they were also photographed sharing a kiss.
