Brooklyn Beckham has now said out loud what fans have debated for years. His January 2026 Instagram Story updates reframed rumors as a family rupture he claims has been building since his wedding.
For a long time, the reported tension between Brooklyn Beckham, his wife Nicola Peltz-Beckham, and the rest of the Beckham family lived in the gray area where headlines thrive. Small moments fueled speculation, occasional appearances suggested everything was fine, and long stretches of silence kept the public guessing.
That changed on January 19, 2026, when Brooklyn posted a series of Instagram Story statements confirming that there is a feud, and implying that it has reached a point he does not see as reversible.
He alleged a pattern of conflict, media maneuvering, and pressure that he says intensified around his 2022 wedding and never truly stopped. So far, David and Victoria Beckham have not publicly addressed the allegations.
Below is a timeline of the major public milestones, from the wedding that sparked the earliest rumors to the statement that made the split impossible to ignore.
Brooklyn and Nicola married in April 2022 at her family’s estate in Florida, celebrating with a guest list that included both sides of the family and a crowd said to be more than 500 people. The couple had been together since late 2019 and announced their engagement in 2020, so the wedding felt like a long-anticipated next step.
Almost immediately after the ceremony, rumors began to circulate that something was off behind the scenes. A major talking point was Nicola’s wedding dress.
Brooklyn later described several incidents he claimed occurred during the wedding events and planning, and these claims became central to how the public reinterpreted the early “dress drama” rumors.
The first dance: In his statement, Brooklyn claimed Victoria hijacked his first dance with his wife, which had been planned weeks in advance to a different love song.
Instead, Marc Anthony announced, in front of 500 guests, that Victoria would dance with him instead. “She danced very inappropriately on me in front of everyone. I’ve never felt more uncomfortable humiliated in my entire life," he admitted.
The dress: Nicola meant to wear a wedding dress made by Victoria's atelier, but canceled. She then had to move on, choosing Valentino to make the wedding gown she wore on their wedding day.
The seating: Last but not least, Victoria reportedly called Brooklyn "evil" for their decision to include their grandmothers at their table instead of their own parents. Instead, both sets of parents had their own tables equally adjacent to theirs.
In August 2022, Brooklyn and Nicola responded directly to some of the public chatter in an interview, offering an explanation that suggested the dress situation was not a personal snub.
Nicola said, “I was going to and I really wanted to, and then a few months down the line, she realized that her atelier couldn’t do it, so then I had to pick another dress. She didn’t say you can’t wear it; I didn’t say I didn’t want to wear it.”
At the time, that clarification worked as a pressure valve. It gave fans a tidy reason for the Valentino gown and implied there was no deeper feud to decode.

In late 2023, the relationship looked stable from the outside. Brooklyn and Nicola attended the premiere of David Beckham’s Netflix documentary, “Beckham,” an appearance that read like a family showing up for one of its own.
For observers, it was the kind of event that tends to quiet feud speculation, at least temporarily. If there were tensions, they were not obvious in that moment.

In February 2024, Victoria attended the premiere of Nicola’s film “Lola” and posted about it on Instagram. The message was warm and celebratory, and Nicola responded positively in the comments.
This was another point on the timeline that suggested the family dynamic could still function, even if occasional rumors continued to bubble up online.
By April 2024, the optics shifted again. Brooklyn attended Victoria’s 50th birthday celebration without Nicola. Nicola reportedly cited her grandmother’s health as the reason for missing the event, and she still wished Victoria a happy birthday on Instagram.
To some fans, the explanation made sense. To others, it read as another sign that the couple’s closeness to the Beckhams might be conditional or fragile.
During the 2024 holiday season, the family appeared to reunite. Victoria posted a photo that included Brooklyn, Nicola, and members of the Beckham family, signaling that they were together for Christmas.
In hindsight, this moment has been framed by many as the last visible stretch of family unity before things cooled again.
In May 2025, Brooklyn and Nicola were notably absent from David Beckham’s 50th birthday bash, and reports suggested the absence was tied to complicated dynamics involving Romeo Beckham, his girlfriend Kim Turnbull, and the claim that Kim was Brooklyn’s ex.
Another wrinkle arrived when Cruz responded to a commenter online, saying that Brooklyn and Kim never dated.
Brooklyn later claimed he and Nicola still traveled to London hoping to celebrate privately, but were shut out. His description was blunt, claiming David only wanted to see them at the big bash, where cameras were present.
“When he finally agreed to see me, it was under the condition that Nicola wasn’t invited. It was a slap in the face. Later, when my family travelled to LA, they refused to see me at all," the eldest Beckham son revealed.
In August 2025, Brooklyn and Nicola renewed their vows, and no Beckham family members were present. Brooklyn later explained their reasoning: “We wanted to renew our vows so we could create new memories of our wedding day that bring us joy and happiness, not anxiety and embarrassment.”
For many followers, the absence spoke louder than any caption. Vow renewals are often treated as symbolic family moments, so the empty seats fueled the belief that the rift had deepened.
In October 2025, Brooklyn and Nicola skipped the premiere of Victoria’s Netflix documentary. In November 2025, David was knighted, and Brooklyn did not attend the celebrations or publicly congratulate his father.
Then, in December 2025, social media clues became a story of their own. Reports surfaced that Brooklyn, Nicola, David, and Victoria no longer appeared to follow one another on Instagram.
Cruz posted on Instagram Stories, “NOT TRUE. My mum and dad would never unfollow their son … Let’s get the facts right. They woke up blocked … as did I.” A spokesperson for Victoria later told People that Cruz was responding to claims that David and Victoria had unfollowed Brooklyn, which the spokesperson said was not true.
On January 19, 2026, Brooklyn posted a tell-all statement that he framed as a response to what he described as years of media narratives.
He wrote that he had been left with “no choice but to speak for myself and tell the truth.” He also claimed the night before the wedding he was told Nicola was “not family,” and alleged “endless attacks from my parents, both privately and publicly, that were sent to the press on their orders.”
He also described the environment he says he grew up in. He claimed that all his life, his parents had controlled narratives in the press about their family, and that their relationships amongst themselves were "inauthentic."
Brooklyn went so far as to say that both Victoria and David had tried to ruin his relationship with Nicola, even before they get married.
The January 2026 posts pulled those fragments into a single story he claims has been unfolding since 2022. Whether the rest of the family responds or stays silent, the timeline now has a clear turning point, and it came from Brooklyn himself.
