Victoria Beckham Speaks Candidly About Battling an Eating Disorder
October 09, 2025

The former English soccer player found himself in hot waters in the early 2000s when he was spotted with a mystery woman, assumed to be his alleged mistress.
There has been a renewed interest in David Beckham's alleged affair with his former personal assistant, Rebecca Loos, following her bombshell interview earlier this year. The scandal first made headlines in the summer of 2003, when David moved to Madrid to play for Real Madrid.

That September, a few nights after arriving in Madrid, The Guardian reported that he was spotted with a mystery brunette woman on a night out. She was later identified as Rebecca.
Several months went by, and in April 2004, the now-defunct U.K. tabloid, News of the World, published an exposé, alleging that David had an affair with Rebecca, who had since been fired as his assistant.

Two more women, Sarah Marbeck and Celina Laurie, also came forward with cheating allegations, which David denied in a statement to The Guardian. "During the past few months I have become accustomed to reading more and more ludicrous stories about my private life," he told the outlet at the time.
"What appeared this morning is just one further example. The simple truth is that I am very happily married and have a wonderful wife and two very special kids," he continued. "There is nothing any third party can do to change this."

Weeks later, Rebecca told her side of the story in a tell-all interview on Sky News. She claimed that the night they were first spotted together in September 2003 was the first night they had slept together.
"I think the chemistry between David and I was so strong, and people were not happy because I was being very unprofessional and he's a married man," she said, per Daily Mail. David married his wife, Victoria Beckham, in 1999.

By the time Rebecca gave her interview, the couple had already welcomed their eldest sons, Romeo and Brooklyn. When her alleged affair with David began, Victoria was still living back in the U.K. with the boys.
Rebecca said she could tell that David was "lonely," being away from his family. "I heard the phone conversations and you see what's going on around. He would often say, 'I'm missing the boys so much. If the boys were here they'd love this,'" she recalled.

She added that she never intended to ruin his marriage. "I think the problems were in their marriage long before I came into the picture," Rebecca said. "I in no way intended to break up their marriage especially when there are young children involved. I hope they stay together."
David and Victoria never addressed the interview and seemingly moved on with their lives. However, it was reignited again in March of this year, when Rebecca doubled down on her claims that she was David's alleged mistress.

The former TV host turned reality star told her side of the story again on "60 Minutes Australia." She maintained, "I have stuck to the truth. I've never exaggerated. I never lied about a single thing."
In his 2023 four-part docuseries, "Beckham," David didn't name Rebecca but he and Victoria agreed that his transfer to Madrid marked a difficult period in the marriage, with Victoria calling it "the most unhappy I've ever been in my entire life."
"There was some horrible stories that were difficult to deal with," David added. "It was the first time that me and Victoria had been put under that kind of pressure in our marriage. Every time that we woke up we felt that there was something else".
"I think we both felt at the time that we were, not losing each other, but drowning," he continued. Despite the controversy, the couple remained together and have gone strong for 26 years — and counting.
