Byron Michael Loker is the author of a short story collection that is prescribed in Grade 9 English literature studies in South Africa. He is also a fledgling filmmaker with five short films to his credit as producer, the first of which was made in West Hollywood and named a finalist in the Lift-Off Global Network Hollywood First-Time Filmmaker Sessions. He lives with a very sweet ginger cat named Georgie at Surfers Corner, Cape Town.
At various stages of his career, Byron has been a journalist, editor, photographer, videographer, landscaper, construction project manager, bartender, waiter, summer camp counselor, surf shop retail assistant, and scuba diving boat skipper.
Byron brings a Master of Arts Degree in Creative Writing and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English Literature from the University of Cape Town, as well as a Diploma in Film and Television Production from Cape Town Film and Television School.
When he's not surfing, Byron enjoys reading literary fiction, cinema-going, open-water swimming, scuba diving, and woodworking. In what's left of his spare time, he's Batman.
