Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were once one of Hollywood’s most beloved couples. Over the years, their relationship unfolded in the public eye, moving from scandal to admiration and ultimately to heartbreak. Here is a complete timeline of their relationship, from their first meeting to the finalization of their divorce.

Pitt was still married to "Friends" star Jennifer Aniston when he met Jolie on the set of "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" in 2004. At first, they denied relationship rumors. Later, they admitted that it was during filming that they "fell in love."

In January 2005, Pitt and Aniston announced their split after five years of marriage. Two months later, Aniston filed for divorce, citing "irreconcilable differences."
In April, Pitt and Jolie were spotted vacationing together in Kenya. Four months after Aniston filed for divorce, the pair appeared in a W magazine spread titled "Domestic Bliss." The photos, taken in March, portrayed them as a happy couple.
That July, Jolie adopted six-month-old Zahara from Ethiopia, and Pitt accompanied her on the trip.

In early 2006, Pitt and Jolie revealed they were expecting their first child together, three months after Pitt’s divorce from Aniston was finalized. A judge granted a request to change Maddox and Zahara’s last names to Jolie-Pitt, and Pitt’s legal adoption of the children was finalized soon after.
In May, Shiloh Jolie-Pitt was born in Namibia. She appeared on the cover of People a month later.
In October of the same year, Pitt said he would not marry Jolie "until everyone else in the country who wants to be married is legally able."

In 2007, the couple adopted three-year-old Pax from Vietnam. The following year, in 2008, Jolie became pregnant with twins. Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline were born in Nice, France, in July. Like Shiloh, they debuted on the cover of People a month later.

In 2010, a publication falsly reported that Pitt and Jolie had split in February of that year. The couple sued the publication for false reporting and won.

In 2012, Jolie was seen wearing a $1 million engagement ring from Pitt. Pitt’s manager confirmed their engagement.
The next year, Jolie underwent a preventive double mastectomy, praising Pitt for his support throughout the whole ordeal.
The couple married in 2014 at Château Miraval in France. All six of their children participated in the ceremony. Maddox and Pax walked Jolie down the aisle. Zahara and Vivienne served as flower girls. Shiloh and Knox were ring bearers.

In 2015, Jolie had her ovaries and fallopian tubes removed after a blood test showed markers that could potentially become cancer.
A year later, in 2016, Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt, citing "irreconcilable differences." She requested primary custody of their children.

In 2018, they reached a temporary custody agreement that allowed Pitt visitation and phone access to the children while Jolie was filming "Maleficent" in London.
A judge ruled that Pitt could have "unsupervised" phone calls and text conversations with his children. A visitation schedule was set up that allowed him to see them without Jolie present, with a therapist involved. He later had custody of the children in Los Angeles for a period of time.
In June 2020, Pitt was seen outside Jolie’s home. A source later said they were not reconciling and that any meetings were for the sake of their children.

In late 2022, Pitt began dating Ines De Ramon. Since then, they've remained a couple, often appearing alongside each other on red carpet events. Ultimately, a source claimed that Pitt is "grateful" to De Ramon for the support she gives him, especially during the holiday season.
As Pitt has no contact with his children, the holidays are always an "emotional" time for him, and having De Ramon with him through it all makes his load lighter.

In 2023, Zahara dropped Pitt from her name. That same year, Shiloh filed to drop Pitt from her legal name. In 2024, after more than eight years of legal proceedings, Jolie and Pitt finalized their divorce.
