On February 9, 2025, the Kansas City Chiefs lost the Super Bowl to the Philadelphia Eagles, 40-22. Social media users believe this game may have been the team's superstar tight end's last round with the Chiefs, as they opined that Travis Kelce didn't give his all during the event.

Following the Chiefs' defeat, NFL reporter Ryan Dunleavy asked star player Patrick Mahomes about Kelce's future with the team. He shared a snippet of this via a video on X.

"I'll let Travis make that decision on his own, man. He's given so much to this team and to the NFL and been [sic] such a joy not only for me to work with but for people to watch. And so, he knows he still has a lot of football left in him. I mean you can see it," answered Mahomes.

He continued, "But it's if he wants to put in that grind, it's a grind to go out there and play 20 games, whatever it is, and get to the Super Bowl. He's done enough to be a gold jacket guy [...] But I know he still has love for the game and he'll get to spend some time with his family and make that decision on his own. But, I mean, he knows he'll come back here with open arms. We love that guy."

"He played like he's done," noted a reader. Similarly, another echoed, "He sure had his mind somewhere else last night." "He needs to retire He can't even run [sic]," mentioned someone else.

Other social media users contributed to the discussion, too. "He might as well retire because he did absolutely nothing during the game," opined a Facebooker, while an X user penned, "I feel like he is retiring and Pat knows it. 😢.”

Before the Chiefs' loss, Kelce was spotted making a stylish arrival at the event. He sported a bold, retro-inspired look, wearing a striking burnt-orange suit with a matching shirt that featured a deep V-neckline and shimmering texture, exuding a '70s disco-era vibe.

The wide-leg trousers and tailored blazer, adorned with a gold brooch on the lapel, added a sophisticated yet flashy touch.

Kelce's accessory—tinted orange aviator sunglasses and a gold necklace—enhanced the vintage aesthetic. He also had his well-groomed beard, and slicked-back hair on display. Completing his look were black-and-white platform loafers, and a sleek black duffle bag, which he carried as he strolled into the venue.

Upon seeing Kelce's fashionable entrance, social media users took to comment sections to share their thoughts about his appearance.

"I don't get this look at all… he's going to play football. Why look like you're going to the disco instead of looking like an athlete??" wondered an Instagrammer, while another asserted, "Spent more money on his clothes than he did training."

Some netizens made correlations between Kelce's fashions, his gameplay, and the Chiefs' loss. "No wonder they lost. 🤣🤣🤣," stated a social media user, while another said, "He put more effort in his fit than he did the actual game."

A TikToker shared, "Imaging [sic] showing up like that then losing," which they accompanied with a crying-smiling emoji. "This right here is why he lost..." highlighted a spectator. Another admitted, "I didn't even recognize him."

"…what a joke. Should put more focus on figuring out how to get open opposed to deciding what ridiculous outfit your girlfriend might like. Time to retire [sic]," expressed an Instagrammer, who referred to Kelce's pop star girlfriend, Taylor Swift. Similarly, someone else declared, "Taylor ruined him."
