There is more to Dwayne Haskins' wife, Kalabrya Gondrezick, than being the widowed wife of an NFL legend. A look into her sports history dating back to her childhood.

NFL quarterback Dwayne Haskins passed away in 2022, leaving behind his beautiful wife, Kalabrya Gondrezick. The two were only married for a year before the accidental death cut short their love story and Haskins' promising NFL career.

Despite the sad loss, the legacy of the NFL quarterback, who played for the Pittsburgh Steelers, would forever live on in the hearts of game lovers, including his beautiful wife.

Notably, while not a football player, Kalabrya comes from a sports family who imbibed the athletic culture in her from a young age.

She also played basketball at the university but never made it a career. Aside from her marriage and passion for the games, what else is known about Dwayne Haskins' wife?

Dwayne Haskins' wife, Kalabrya Gondrezick, has long been invested in the world of sports, coming from an athletic family and marrying into one. Yet, there are a lot of facts about her more intriguing than being the widowed wife of a famous athlete.

The former college basketball player came into the world on December 18, 1995, in Bent Harbor, Michigan. She was born to parents Grant Gondrezick and Lisa Harvey-Gondrezick.

Notably, Kalabrya's dad played college basketball at Pepperdine University. After being drafted by the NBA, his professional career saw him play for teams like the Phoenix Suns and the Los Angeles Clippers.

Her mom, Lisa, was also a basketball enthusiast, playing college basketball at Louisiana Tech, leading her school to victory in the National championship.

Following her graduation, the 26-year-old's mom took up the game professionally, playing for an Italian team for years before becoming an assistant coach at Benton Harbor High School.

Both parents met thanks to their shared passion for basketball. Recalling their first meeting in 1991, Lisa explained how her to-be husband approached her after listening to her sing the national anthem before a summer league game in New York.

The couple stayed together until Grant Gondrezick passed away in January 2021, at 57, leaving his wife and two daughters to carry on his basketball legacy.

Thankfully, Kalabrya Gondrezick's sister, Kysre Rae Gondrezick, is doing just that, making her way up the ranks as a professional player. Kysre was drafted into the 2021 WNBA as the fourth overall pick and now plays for the Indiana Fever.

Before her career took off professionally, she played college basketball at Michigan State and West Virginia. She was named Michigan Miss basketball and Michigan Gatorade Player of the year.

Unlike her sister, Dwayne Haskins' wife embraced other professions. Her LinkedIn profile lists her as a proactive licensed medical aesthetician/cosmetic laser technician. Her expertise includes laser treatments and skincare routines through which she makes a living.

Years before meeting her husband and losing him to a tragic accident, Kalabrya had a near-death experience herself. She recalled her mom driving her and her younger sister to school on that fateful day.

While Kysre sat beside her mom, the former basketball player sat in the back seat, half asleep. The night was a special one for the star, set to step onto the basketball court at Benton Harbor for the first time as a varsity player.

Perhaps, dreams of the long-anticipated moment filled her imagination as she dozed off in the car. However, she awoke to a harsh reality, finding herself in a hospital with numerous scars on her body. Recalling the tragic moment, she once said:

"Every day I wake up with a scar that I don't remember exactly how it got there. I didn't see what happened. I woke up in a hospital with people hovering over me and crying."

Somewhere along her daunting journey, Kalabrya eventually met her husband, Dwayne Haskins. Details about their first meeting and relationship timeline are unknown.

However, it is believed she and the NFL player kicked off their romance following the end of his relationship with former flame Savhana Cousin, whom he dated for over two years, beginning in 2016.

Throughout their relationship, Haskins and Savhana seemed like the perfect couple, as evident in their social media post. Hence, it was a surprise when news broke of his engagement to Kalabrya in 2021.

The NFL star went down on one knee while they were out partying with family and friends at the TAO restaurant in Las Vegas. He proposed with a gigantic ring, designed by celebrity jeweler Zo Frost.

An excited Kalabrya took to Instagram to express her happiness, calling him her favorite dream come true. The couple tied the knot on March 19, 2021. They shared footage from the dreamy engagement in August 2021, creating some confusion around their actual wedding date.

Before their marriage, the former college basketballer was grieving the sad loss of her father. But Haskins was on hand to help her overcome the tragic loss. She appreciated his effort on their first Valentine's Day as a married couple, posting on Instagram:

"Helped me through my storm so we gone shine forever."

Although their love was undisputable, the couple experienced some rocky moments in their relationship. In July 2021, the two had a fight that ended in Kalabrya's arrest. knocking out her partner's tooth.

Jail records showed the NFL quarterback sustained substantial injuries. She was charged in court with felony battery and domestic violence resulting in bodily harm.

In the face of their marital woes, love prevailed. Sadly, their love story ended abruptly following Haskins' death on April 9, 2022. According to reports, the athlete died in an accident in Florida.

Moments before the accident, witnesses reportedly spotted him waving cars down on the shoulder of I-595, per the medical examiner's report. His vehicle was later discovered on I-595 with an unnamed female companion.

A 911 call from Kalabrya, who was in another state, Pittsburgh, at the time of the accident, also surfaced. In the call, the Michigan native pinpointed her husband's location.

Then, she begged officers to check on him because he was stranded alone on the road while walking to a gas station and hadn't called her back, which was unlike him.

According to her, she decided to report his location after several unsuccessful attempts to reach him. Responding officers found Hastins' body in the said location, with toxicology reports confirming high levels of alcohol and traces of ketamine in his system.

Weeks after Dwayne Haskins's death, his wife held a funeral to bid him farewell. The event occurred on April 22, 2022, at the Allegheny Center Alliance Church in Pittsburgh, where the couple resided.

Haskins' parents failed to attend the funeral, opting to hold a separate one on April 23, 2022, at Christ Church in Rockaway Township, New Jersey. They disclosed their reasons, explained they had never met or spoken to Kalabrya before their son's death and did not want their first meeting to happen at a funeral.

Hawkins' wife released a statement following his passing, detailing his life's accomplishments and admirable character and values. She wrote:

"He was a loving and dedicated husband, a son, and a brother. He wanted to be a father and eventually a grandfather. He was a humanitarian who loved children and animals."

She urged the public to give her and the rest of Dwayne's family some privacy as they mourned their loss. Then, on what would have been his 25th birthday in May 2022, the aesthetician remembered her husband in a touching tribute, describing him as her twin flame, soul mate, lover, and best friend.
